Mission patches

It occurred to me that our narrowboat trips are sort of like NASA missions, in that we look forward to them for years, they take a lot of planning and are often delayed. So I decided to design mission patches to commemorate our trips. The plan was to have them made as custom embroidered patches that we could sew onto jackets or have them printed on T-shirts. Of course, COVID and my knee surgery has delayed our planned trip 2020 and rescheduled 2021 trip. So, I’m not going to have embroidered patches for the upcoming trip made until I’m sure we’re going.

Instead, I’ve made a patch for our 2015 trip on the Llangollen Canal using my inkjet printer and Cricut cutting machine. Eventually, I’ll make patches for all our past trips, but this one took long enough that it may be some time before I get around to it.

I used the Cricut to cut out the letters and images on cereal box cardboard and stacked the images to give a sense of depth. This shows crossing the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct in Wales. The “patch” is 4.5 inches in diameter.
