Phil, Tim and Pru on the Mon & Brec | Canal & River Trust
The Canal & River Trust has a nice little article about Timothy West and Prunella Scales and their recent (June 2017) trip on the Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal. The story of their trip was shown on their Channel 4 TV program, Great Canal Journeys on Dec. 7. Coincidentally, the Mon & Brec will be our next canal journey, and we’ve been perusing the guide shown above. This has to be one of the best canal guides I’ve ever seen, with detailed maps, boating advice, an exhaustive list of pubs and other services and a great table showing distance from bridges, aqueducts and winding holes to either ends of the canal (Brecon or Five Locks near Cwmbran).
The current editor of the guide is pictured if you follow the link below. We were sent the guide by the boat hire we booked (Cambrian Cruisers), but unfortunately it’s a little difficult to obtain the guide otherwise. It’s best to go to the website and contact Phil Hughes directly.
Unfortunately I’m still waiting for this, the possibly last episode, of Great Canal Journeys to appear on YouTube.
