Narrowboat Simulator

Wow, the Narrowboat Simulator is much improved from the first time I viewed it. That version was pretty buggy but this seems much better. Although it really won’t teach you to drive a narrowboat, it will at least reinforce the basic concept of turning the tiller right to go left and vice versa. Plus it’s a lot of fun!

You can either play the game in your computer’s web browser or download it to your Android device or to your computer. iOS development it underway. It works quite well in Safari on Mac OS Mojave but it loads a lot faster if you install it on your computer. On a Mac, right-click the downloaded game and pick open, otherwise your Mac will tell you that you can only open games downloaded from trusted developers.

Unfortunately without something like haptics (some form or real or simulated sensation) you can’t really get the feel of the throttle. But the speed of the boat seems pretty realistic. I just wish real boats had a speedometer.
